RISK ASSESSMENT/PERMISSION TO PROCEED PROCESS:

For all mission or regional activities such as general meet ups, camps or events. Mission Coordinators (for any mission events) and/or Regional Coordinators (for any regional events) must complete risk assessments and obtain Permission to Proceed. Risk Assessments can also be downloaded in Microsoft Word format below for mission use.

Steps Required for Permission to Proceed below;

The following steps are required for the granting of Permission to Proceed:

  • As a Mission Coordinator or Regional Coordinator you will have access to the Safety Management Online portal.

  • Log in to Safety Management Online (SMO).

  • Head to the ‘Programs’ tab, select ‘Add Program’.

  • If you ‘Program Type’ does not exist in the current drop down menu you can enter in a new program into the next box.

  • Enter in the relevant details to add your activity or event here.

  • When adding the ‘Program Team’ you can select an existing mission group team or you may need to head to the ‘People’ tab to add in a new ‘Team’ according to your event leaders for your program.

  • When you have saved your program, you can now scroll down the page and create the relevant Safety Plans.

  • This includes selecting ‘Activity’ and ‘Add a new Activity’ in which you can include ‘Add a Risk Assessment’ and enter in details. Enter in emergency contact details.

  • Context Specific Requirements: Additional information may be required: A copy of your program outline (event schedule, Semester calendar etc.) may be applicable.

  • You may need leaders to complete the ‘Volunteer Drivers Declaration Form’ and have this document uploaded.

  • Finally you need to request permission to proceed with your program. An email will be sent to whoever is listed as the coordinator of the program team you selected. So ensure the correct person is listed here. Permission to Proceed should be obtained from the Regional Coordinator for all Mission activities and from the National Administrator for all Regional activities.


    Your Coordinator will assesses the information you provide and, if satisfied that the planned program is satisfactory to your organisation, will grant you Permission to Proceed within SMO.

    Please also note that the Christian Surfers Insurance only covers the following activities: Bush Camping, Bush Walking, Roller Skates/Blades/Boards, Surfing (with Boards), Swimming, Ocean Paddling, Unpowered Water Craft, fishing and waterslide.
